Undergraduate Requirements

BA (Hons) International Business and BA (Hons) International Events Management

Academic Requirements

For entry onto our BA programmes, students must have:

  • At least five GCSE/IGCSE subjects or equivalent with grades A-C, including Maths and English, and
  • Three A levels at minimum grade C or above*

* Please note that we may not accept an A Level if it is done in the student's native language, i.e. we would not accept an A Level in German from a German student.

Alternatively we can accept an A Level equivalent or one of the following qualifications:

  • Abitur - with 2.7 out of 4
  • Advanced Placement Exams** - 3 subjects at grade 3, or 2 at grade 4
  • Apolytirion of Lykeio - 13 out of 20
  • Avgangsbetyg - with mostly VG and MVG grades
  • Bagrut/Mechina - 75 out of 100, or 7.5 out of 10
  • European Baccalaureate - with 75% out of 100%
  • Four Scottish Highers - at grade C
  • French Baccalaureat - with 13 out of 20
  • Irish Leaving Certificates - five certificates at grade C
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma - with 32 points out of 45
  • Maturità/Esame di Stato - with 75 out of 100
  • National Baccalaureate
  • Título de Bachillerato - with 6.5 out of 10
  • Vitnemål - with 4/5 out of 6
  • VWO - with grade 7 out of 10  

Or other international qualifications accepted as fulfilling British University requirements, as recommended by the National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC).

** Please note that we may not accept an AP exam if it is done in the student's native language, i.e. we would not accept an AP exam in German from a German student.

Note: Students applying with an American High School Diploma or similar 12-year secondary equivalent, e.g. HAVO, will normally be required to complete our one-year Business Foundation Course to satisfy the academic requirements for our BA (Hons) degrees.

English Language Requirements

For those applicants whose mother tongue is not English, we require a recent pass in any of the following qualifications:

European Union/European Economic Area Nationals

For students who are nationals of the EU/EEA countries and English is not their native language, we require one the following qualifications*:

  • IELTS score of 6.5
  • TOEFL 90 points in the internet-based test, 233 in the computer-based version, or 577 in the paper-based test. The TOEFL code for EBS London is 2487. 
  • Cambridge Advanced English Certificate grades A-C
  • Certificate of Proficiency in English grades A-C
  • Pearson Test of English with 58 points
  • GCSE/IGCSE English Grade C or above
  • A Level English Grade C or above
  • Grade 5 in the IB English HL
  • English C of the Avgangsbetyg with a VG or MVG
  • English grade 5 or 6 in the Vitnemål
  • 75% overall in all English components of the European Baccalaureate
  • EIKEN English test - Grade Pre 1

* This requirement may be waived if the last three years of the student's education were in English. We reserve the right to request an English test at our discretion.

Non-EU/EEA Nationals

For students who are non-EU/EEA nationals and English is not their native language, we require one the following qualifications in accordance with UK Border Agency (UKBA) guidelines*:

  • IELTS overall score of 6.5 showing a minimum of a 5.5 pass in all four components of the test
  • TOEFL with 90 points, showing a minimum pass of Reading – 18, Listening – 17, Speaking – 20, Writing 17 (please note that the computer-based and paper-based tests are not accepted by the UKBA). TOEFL code for EBS London is 2487.  
  • Pearson Test of English with 58 points, showing a minimum pass of 51 in all four components of the test
  • Cambridge Advanced English – Grade C or above in all elements
  • GCSE or A Level English at Grade C or above, studied and taken in the UK on a student visa

* Please note this requirement is not only for academic purposes, but more importantly to meet the UKBA guidelines for a Tier 4 student visa.
